Arunachal Pradesh, the largest state in the North Eastern part of India is well known as the “The Land of the Rising Sun”. Since the state lies in the country’s extreme east, the largest state in North East India experiences the first golden rays of the rising sun. 400 years old Twang Monastery in the state is India’s largest Monastery as well as the world’s second-largest Buddhist Monastery. The state is inhabited by 26 major tribes and 100 sub tribes. The state has an international border of 1630 km with China, Bhutan and Myanmar. It has a forest cover of more than 82%.

The state was initially referred to as NEFA North East Frontier Agency which was renamed as Arunachal Pradesh on January 20. 1972.

The longest bridge in India called The Dhola–Sadiya Bridge, also commonly known as the Bhupen Hazarika Setu measuring 9.15 kilometres in length is the first permanent road that connects between the northern Assam and eastern Arunachal Pradesh.

One more important and interesting fact of Arunachal Pradesh is the state has become the least population density in India with just 17 people per square km, as per 2011 census. The land of the Rising Sun is home to more than 500 species of orchids.
